Keep hydrated!

As you know the tanning equipment is a hotter environment than you would normally experience and therefore it is highly important to keep yourself hydrated before and after your tanning session. Please do not attempt to use the sunbeds and stand ups if you are dehydrated or feeling unwell.

The same can be said if you are in any hot environment such as hot climates and treatments. When on holiday think about drinking plenty of water so that you can function properly and safely. Without trying to spoil your experience, drinking lot’s of alcohol and caffeine drinks don’t count in your liquid intake as these drinks will dehydrate you! Therefore drink plenty of water based drinks as the majority of your fluid intake.

So what are the symptoms of dehydration especially in a warm or hot environment?

  • Not urinating or having very dark yellow urine.
  • Very dry skin.
  • Feeling dizzy.
  • Rapid heartbeat.
  • Rapid breathing.
  • Sunken eyes.
  • Sleepiness, lack of energy, confusion or irritability.
  • Fainting

You will certainly feel dizzy, experience unusual heartbeats and breathing with confusion when you are dehydrated. This will become much more pronounced when exposing yourself to a hot environment and eventually could lead to fainting. If you find yourself feeling this way then remove yourself from the source of heat, sit down in a cool well ventilated area and take in some water immediately.

Think of yourself as a biological plant. We all know what happens to plants and flowers when they are not watered and the same can be said of your body and skin. A hydrated skin will always react better to a sunbed session and will noticeable be seen to look healthier too!

So if you find yourself feeling unwell just stop your session, sit down and take in some water. Even better, do not even attempt to use the tanning equipment if you have dehydration symptoms. Take in some water before you come to our Spalding sunbeds and have some afterwards because we know Spalding tanners are really cool tanners!
